Twitch Stream Idea’s

Viewer Specific Audio Commands

This has to be one of my favorite Twitch stream ideas. In short, giving loyal viewers a custom sound effect that only they can use. Bots like Streamlabs Chatbot or OBS websocket like Lioranboard allow you to set viewer specific commands. Setting viewer goals to unlock a custom sound is a great way to keep viewers in chat, engaged and invested in your stream. Builds interactivity and almost a small sense of ownership knowing they have something unique to them!

Examples of goals that could be set:

  • Set a goal of hours watched to unlock a custom audio command of the viewers choosing.
  • Make it a sub only perk.
  • Let user’s cash in channel points to get a custom audio command.

Let Viewers Control OBS With Chat Using OBS Websocket

This has to be one of my favorite features in OBS and can generate some amazing Twitch stream ideas. OBS Websocket is a plugin that allows 3rd party software connect to OBS and allow that software to control OBS functions. Again, using programs like Streamlabs Chatbot or Lioranboard you can allow viewers to enter chat commands and control OBS.

There are literally endless possibilities with this plugin and should be in every streamers arsenal.

Download the OBS Websocket Plugin HERE.

Examples of using websocket:

  • Let viewers change scene’s in OBS (Lioranboard & Chatbot)
  • Allow viewers to mute your mic (Lioronboard)
  • Let Chat turn preset images or animations on/off (Lioronboard & Chatbot)
  • Give viewers the power to end the stream using channel points (Lioronboard)
  • Allow chat to use channel points to enable TTS (Lioronboard & Chatbot)

OBS has one of the most amazing and creative communities in the streaming space. On their OBS plugin page there are a ton of useful plugins and effects you can use to make your stream stand out! Rather it’s visual flare like an controller input display or automatic scene switcher, there are hundreds of useful tools worth investing in.

Here are some of the best OBS plugins available:

  • Move Transition: The top rated plugin for OBS! Animate and move sources within scenes, via hotkey or scene transitions. Gives your stream a really cool, professional look.

You can blur specific sources, distort your webcam and 3D transform sources as well. A really well rounded plugin to get really creative with.

Twitch Extensions

Twitch extensions have come a long way since they first hit the stream scene. They started out with simple functions like posting stream schedules or listing new followers, now they’ve evolved into so much more. Most if not all work on mobile as well, so no worries in alienating any viewers watching on a phone or tablet.  (Links for all Extensions below)

  • Sound alerts: Just like the name implies, sound alerts are a fun an interactive extension that allow users to trigger sounds on stream. Sound Alerts also allows you to require users to use bits or be subscribed to use them too. The extension’s dashboard also comes with a bunch of preset sounds and you can even create profiles for things like groups of seasonal sound effects.
  • Suggestions Box: Mileage may vary with this one, but its still a unique extension. Enable the extension and place an area for viewers to leave a suggestion for your stream.
  • Crowd Control: This extension directly allows viewers to alter your game, for either better or worse! This will boost viewer engagement and can even be monetized for either the streamer or directly to charity.
  • Timeout with Bits: No guessing games with this extension. This allows viewers to time out other viewers using bits.
  • Voicemod: Voicemod is easily the most fleshed out free vocal effects program on the market. It’s extension allows viewers to change your voice once activated for either free or using bits.

Play Games with Twitch Integration

Viewer focused nights are a must for any size community on Twitch. Luckily there are plenty of games that have direct Twitch integration built in.

Games with Twitch integration require you to sync your Twitch account to the game you are playing. Letting viewers either help or hinder as you play. This creates a crazy interactive experience that fully engages your audience and can strengthen you community overall!
